Terms of use

Plain terms for a free tool. The important one is the second heading: these are planning estimates, not professional advice.

Using the site

No Second Trip is free to use for planning your own work or your clients’. You may use the results — quantities, costs, dimensions — however you like, including commercially, with no attribution required. There is no account and nothing to agree to beyond what is on this page.

Estimates, not professional advice

This is the part that matters. The calculators produce planning estimates. They are not engineering calculations, structural designs, code compliance determinations or quotations, and using them does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

Specifically, before you order, build or commit money:

  • Confirm quantities with your supplier. Material densities, coverage rates and bag yields vary by region, grade and product. A ten percent density difference is a ten percent difference in what turns up.
  • Confirm requirements with your building department. Code minimums quoted here come from the model codes, and your jurisdiction may amend them. Where they differ, your local requirement governs.
  • Have structural work designed by someone qualified. Anything load-bearing, permitted or life-safety related needs sign-off from a professional entitled to give it.

We work hard to be accurate — see methodology for how — but no calculator can see your site, your sub-grade, your drainage or your local amendments.

No warranty

The site and its content are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage — including wasted material, delay, cost overrun or consequential loss — arising from reliance on anything published here.

This does not limit any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here affects consumer rights you have by statute.

Content and reuse

The text, calculators, diagrams and reference tables on this site are ours and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to quote a figure or a table with a link back; please do not republish pages wholesale or reproduce the calculators.

Standards, codes and industry data cited on the site remain the property of their publishers, and are cited rather than reproduced.

External links

Sources and references link to third-party sites. We link to them because they support a figure we publish, not because we control or endorse everything on them.

Changes

These terms may change; the date at the foot of the page will change with them. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised terms. Questions go to the contact page.
